FAQ

In this FAQ, I will shed light on some questions related to working with a VA.

What is a Virtual Assistant (VA)?

‘The’ Virtual Assistant doesn’t exist, because each VA has a different specialism. A general description of a VA is a Personal Assistant who works remotely on a computer and offers support for time-consuming or routine tasks that their clients choose to delegate. A VA can be hired for a variety of tasks and projects, among which diary management, bookkeeping, invoicing, customer service, updating websites and social media, graphic design, website customisation, and more. Strengths of a VA include time management, communication, writing skills, organisational skills, computer skills, resourcefulness, exactitude, and reliability. Since everything a VA does takes place online, location is not of importance.

Why exactly a VA – and for whom?

As a business owner/entrepreneur, you have to deal with different tasks and responsibilities. This in itself is a challenge, and you will probably notice that, with the growth of your business, you feel more and more burdened with certain chores. Chances are that you think of administrative tasks, updating your website, or keeping up with social media. Because these things absorb so much time, you may struggle to have a proper focus on the aspects of your business that truly matter. A VA is essential if you want to work on and maintain business growth – it can save you money or give you more free time, depending on how you want to see it. Because of the great flexibility, hiring a VA is also a more economic solution than hiring an employee. Even for just a few hours per week, a VA can help you out. A VA is independent and carries responsibility for her own computer and work environment. Last but not least, a VA is also an independent contractor, which means that you don’t need to worry about matters such as payroll taxes, holiday pay, and employee benefits. A VA has a business she is proud of, and that translates to a diligent attitude.

Whom do you work with?

I mainly focus on self-employed people such as business owners, entrepreneurs, and freelancers who know what they stand for; they are passionate and conscious. This may be about:

  • Green/eco-friendly & organic
  • Creative (e.g. art, photography, handmade products)
  • Nutrition & culinary (e.g. catering, restaurant)
  • Naturopaths & therapists
  • Coaches & counsellors
  • Health & wellness (e.g. massage)
  • Yoga, mindfulness & meditation
  • Travel
  • (Web)shops
  • Blogging

Yet other entrepreneurs I help are active in, for instance, the financial sector. A diverse world indeed.

What if I’m not sure whether a VA is something for me?

If you’re still hesitant but genuinely interested, you can request the free one-hour trial that I offer, or just start with the hourly rate. You can use the time in any way you want, so it’s a good idea to start thinking about your needs now. As a matter of course, we can always discuss things during the free consultation call. The trial is non-committal, and can be continued any way you want.

Do you have a waiting list/when can you start working for me?

There is currently no waiting list, so I can start working for you today! After we get to know each other through a free consultation call, I will send you the proposal that outlines the plan I believe best suits you. The proposed plan is non-committal. Once you’ve decided how you would like to work with me, and the agreement has been signed, I can immediately schedule your first project in my diary.
